Hurray!  Oregon will have its first USA Track and Field (USATF) sanctioned clothes optional 5K (actually 4.93 Km or 3.06 miles) run on August 5, 2012 at Mountaindale Sun Resort.  For a while, only Washington had not one but two clothes optional 5K runs.  One at Kaniksu Ranch  http://www.kaniksufamily.com/?page_id=4 and the other at Fraternity Snoqualmie http://www.fraternitysnoqualmie.com/BBFR.html.   Mountaindale will host its Bare Buns 5K fun run and walk on the same weekend as their clothes optional Sun Fest.  For those coming out of town, that means food, music, games, a swimming pool, and vendors from August 3 to 5 plus Casino Night on August 3 and a masquerade ball on August 4.  The run itself is on August 5.  More details can be found at http://mountaindalesun.com/new-sun-festival-and-run-august-4-5/.

The course has been rearranged from last year.   Runners will no longer run from elevation 450 feet to elevation 950 over a half-mile distance.  Instead, they will run from elevation 450 to elevation 700, run at 700 elevation for about a kilometer before resuming the climb up to the peak at elevation 950.  See the elevation profile above.

FIG LEIF NAKED OFF-ROAD BIKE RIDE AND 5K RUN

This is the 4th year of the Fig Leif Naked 10K Off-Road Bike Ride and the 7th year of the 5K Run which takes place on the same evening of the Sunny Nekkid Ride which in turn takes place the week before the World Naked Bike Ride.  The 10 K off-rode bike ride and 5K run starts at the paved section of NW Leif Erickson Road at 7:15pm on Saturday, June 9, 2012. This is the wide area with a port-a-potty about 500 yards beyond the Forest Park entry gate at the top of NW Thurman St.  As usual, this is an unorganized run and unsupported ride.  Nevertheless,  we'll have someone to keep cyclist and  runner's time and watch our stuff while we bike and run.  We'll even have a prize (print shown above) for the first male and female cyclist and runner to cross the finish line. There is no entry fee and bring you own water. The route is unpaved, almost like cobble stone in places.   It's an uphill run and ride all the way to the turn around point.
